During the last week of June, one of my best friends that I’ve known for nearly 35 years, Sara, came to visit! She (and her family) visited me (us) in several of the places we’ve lived, but Alaska is a different beast. In general, we have low expectations for friend visitors since we live well out of the way for a simple weekend trip! Not only do you need a large window of time to capitalize on visiting as much as you can while in Alaska, it’s pricy. People joke that they need to take out a second mortgage for an Alaskan vacation, and they’re not wrong. Which is why Sara’s family trip was 2 years in the making!
Their kids are 12 & 15, so we indulged in some of the more adventurous excursions. I realized my vertigo no longer enjoys climbing up high platforms like we had to while ziplining! But it was fun to act like a kid again temporarily!
I don’t have many words about the visit, other than it was just so comforting to have my long-time friend get a small taste of my Alaskan life!!
