Much of our time as Leave No Trace Traveling Trainers this winter has been spent setting up a booth at Subaru Winterfest weekend festival events, which take place at popular ski areas around the country. Our schedule took us to the ones at Copper Mountain (CO), Eldora (CO) and Snowbird (UT).
Justin and I are not downhill skiers or snowboarders, but we both do love snowy mountains and the idea of not hibernating during winter. This is not to say I didn’t complain about being cold once, twice or 500 times. I love winter, but I love it more when I am sitting by a cozy fire watching the snow fall and wind swirl out the window, or snowshoeing/XC skiing with my blood pumping. Even 5 layers and double winter socks can’t really beat the cold that comes with standing around all day at a booth (especially at Copper & Snowbird where the temps hit 0). With that being said, the Winterfests are super high-energy, so the excitement outweighed my fear of frostbite.
Plus, we saw some awesome live music, including Lukas Nelson (twice) and G Love and Special Sauce. Justin saw G Love back in the 90s, so he was pretty stoked to see him again. Then he got invited on the VIP gondola ride for a private concert with G Love and the stoke level elevated.
We also got to hang out with many friends—new and old—at a few of the events.
So, I may still be defrosting from our Winterfest work, but I can’t complain because it truly was fun work in some gorgeous scenery.
So much fun!
well, at least the mountains look lovely! Brrrr!
omg, that looks cooooooold!
I love G Love! It’s been probably 10 years since I’ve seen him though. Didn’t even realize he was still playing.
