I mentioned in previous posts that I’ve been “outside” (AKA, outside Alaska) for most of the fall. It ended up being nearly 7 weeks (Justin was with me for 2.5 weeks)! I started in Nashville for my sister’s 50th birthday celebration, then it was in NJ/CT for family visits (my side), as well as Colorado for more family time (Justin’s side).
I think the pictures really tell the story, but here’s the NJ summary:
1 Italian/Greek wedding, 2 funerals, 3 hikes, 1 Feis (Irish Dance Competition), 3 meet & greets with new babies, 1 tricky tray (no winnings), 9-10 hours of daylight
These are half my cousins … starkly Italian, except for my sister and I. My mom with her 2 brothers and her sister (and their others)! My cousins with their babies!!My Italian cousin married a Greek!Family Selfie! Since the wedding was in Jersey City, we took my mom for a driving tour and got to see where she grew up from the 1940s-70s, as well as where my dad lived. A real trip down memory lane for her. I love Irish dancing! My god daughter, Anna, has a Feis, so I dragged my mom along to watch. We both loved it! I used to babysit Meg, and now she has her own little one!! This might have been taken at a funeral, but it is always good to reunite with my high school buddies. My mom’s house is not equipped for hosting more than 2 people, but we moved enough paperwork off the couch to fit my sister, Justin & I.
And here’s the Colorado summary:
1 Thanksgiving feast with the family, 1 trip to Rachel’s cabin in the mountains (at 10,000 feet), 1 hike, one 10th birthday, 2 Chick-Fil-A meals (3 for Justin), 14 games of laser tag, 12 bumper car rides, 1 round of mini golf, 4 cats to snuggle with, 9-10 hours of daylight
Silly family portrait!Jumping at 10,000 feet is NOT easy! Cabin time in Fairplay is the best!!! We got Justin’s mom a backpack for her kitty, Sofie, to take on her walks around Denver! Never enough cat snuggles … Everett turned double digits! We had a special outing with the boys on their fall break, which involved 14 games of laser tag. I kept suggesting we do bumper cars because then I could rest in between laser tag chaos! A Thanksgiving feast!
And now we are both back in Healy through the new year, getting hammered with snow as we speak. For the record, sunrise is at 10:30am and sunset is at 3pm, putting us at 4.5 hours of daylight …
Lots of fun pictures. I noticed a very cool Elvis pillow in your mom’s house! You forgot to include the picture of you and Luna bonding at the cabin! It was a great visit!

Love all the photos of your time away from Healy. Can’t wait for your next visit to Denver.
