I mentioned that Justin and I took separate getaways this month, him to Texas and I to NJ.
Justin’s trip to San Antonio had the purpose of watching the Valero Texas Open and playing some golf with his college buddy, Jason. I would like to mention that nearly every single person I told about Justin’s trip asked if he was PLAYING in the Valero Texas Open. We both wish he was a tournament pro, but alas, he couldn’t even caddy let alone play in an amateur league. People’s second reaction: why would someone go on vacation to watch boring golf? Touche.

The exciting highlight at the Valero was the fact that Justin was hit in the stomach with a golf ball by JB Holmes. No signed ball or glove, although Justin played an April Fool’s joke on me that the golfer bought them dinner. I don’t know, I would think that would be common courtesy?!

Jason & Justin also played the Quarry Golf Course, which is a unique course because it incorporates the 100-year-old Alamo Rock Quarry pit, so set among rock wall backdrops & cliffs. Also, the smoke stacks from the cement company still stand as the course backdrop. All in all, they loved their golf vacation and are already planning another one in 2024.

As for me, I ventured to good ‘ol Jersey to do an in-person mom check-in, but with the added benefit of soaking up spring sunshine and hanging with a few friends, my sister, nephew and niece. I think my mom’s ear-to-ear smile in the picture sums up the joy she gets from having her family all together (minus Justin).

I think one of my favorite memories will be my sister and I trying to prep Easter food in my mom’s cluttered kitchen!
